Water choice still up in air
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
The nation as a whole has learned from many years of experience to distrust politicians. It's a national pastime. Most assuredly some of them deserve their unfavorable reputation. Many of them do not. Not every politician is in office to fulfill his or her own agenda. Most of them truly believe in serving the people they are representing. Certainly that can be said of members of the McCook City Council...

In pursuit of the perfect bag
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
The habit starts early. My daughter received her first purse at the ripe old age of two. What does a two-year-old girl carry around? For starters, a day's supply of candy, some rocks from the driveway and her treasured 30 bite-size pieces of scratch paper she cut up earlier in the day...

A good lesson
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
A good lesson I'm sorry about how some of the kids reacted to the mock disaster at the MHS. However, with what happened recently west of McCook, maybe this is exactly what they needed with summer coming on and them complaining there's nothing to do. Kids now days just laugh at ads whether it be for smoking, drinking or even drugs...

Time to listen
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
Haven't the area residents around the speedway listened? It is county owned property and there is no noise level ordinance even though it is within city limits. If they don't like it, move. Upon purchasing their next house, maybe they should investigate their surroundings a little better...

Turn down radios
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
If your going to press real hard on this noise level then you might as well press the same issue against the kids that are driving around in the cars whose radios are blaring so loud it vibrates the windows on peoples houses. Fair is fair. You go against the people who are racing the cars you should go against the teenagers with their loud radios...

Proud of students
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
Dear Editor, I don't know how many people in McCook saw Good Morning Nebraska this morning, but if you did you have to be very proud of our McCook High School Math Whiz Kids. This was the second time that I've seen them on the program and they are very impressive. They are an example of the quality of young people that we are blessed to have as part of our community and are to be commended as role models...

What was the motive?
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
Dear Editor, A school assembly is held and -- for all practical purposes -- a false report is given to the students concerning a fatality accident. In retrospect, it seems that the motive for this may have been admirable, but the methodology was certainly ill-conceived...

Them dry bones
(Column ~ 04/19/02)
Dear Editor, When I was in high school I sang in the choir. We sang the song Them bones, them bones, them dry bones. I didn't know what it meant until years later when I studied Bible prophecy. The prophet Ezekiel wrote about "the valley of dry bones" in Ezekiel 37. ...
