Sheriff collects nearly $10K in delinquent taxes

McCOOK, Neb. — Since issuing notices in October last year to 40 taxpayers with delinquent tax bills, the Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office collected on 33 distress warrants bringing in $9,740.05 in taxes and $668.41 in interest. The 40 warrants issued last year totaled $11,648.08 and demanded payment of late taxes ranging from $6.12 to $2,724.20, plus interest.
