Haigler Music Festival Sunday

HAIGLER, Nebraska -- The Railsplitters of Boulder, Colorado, will highlight Haigler, Nebraska's 11th annual "Haigler Music Festival" scheduled Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. MT in the village park. Music festival co-coordinator Jody Crouse said the Railsplitters are a relatively new band, having their first "real" gig in January. The band is made up of friends who met at bluegrass jams across the country. They describe themselves as "an old-timey bluegrass band," but admit they sometimes stray from the traditional Kentucky sound. The Railsplitters will be joined on stage by "The Garage Bunch" and "Two Bricks Short," both from Burlington, Colorado. The festival is free of charge; free-will donations help the community's "HIC" (Haigler Improvement Committee) finance community improvements and fund the HIC scholarship program. Refreshments will be available in the park. Music fans are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. No alcohol is allowed in the park.

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Red Willow County, Nebraska, commissioners approved new, updated and simplified zoning regulations following a public hearing during their weekly meeting Monday morning. New regs include those governing subdivisions.
