BEAVER CITY, Neb. -- A McCook man was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney and then transferred to a Lincoln hospital after his car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on Highway 6&34 east of Arapahoe about 7:30 a.m., Tuesday. Claude Cappel, 78 years old, of McCook was treated at the Kearney hospital and then moved to the Lincoln hospital. Equinox isn't everything

Now that we have past the autumnal equinox things have settled down, well not quite. The temperatures are assuming fall proportions and are dropping rather precipitously in the evenings. Equinox means equal day and equal night and supposedly on the day of either the autumnal or the vernal equinox (spring) daylight and dark will be equal. However, such is not the case. Due to that pesky 23.5 degree tilt of Earth's axis there are slight differences according to where you live...
