National security over politics
(Column ~ 09/21/10)
This is one reason why people are angry at Congress: the Majority party in the Senate has hijacked a bill supporting our military efforts and loaded it with its own social policy initiatives. With our nation at war; thousands of Americans putting their lives on the line for our freedom and security every day; and our military depending upon its government to provide it with necessary support; such an endeavor is simply indefensible. ...

'Heritage' especially key to this year's celebration
(Editorial ~ 09/21/10)
We all enjoy the parade, entertainment, food and fun of Heritage Days, but there's a lot of "heritage" that should get our attention this week. "Life's Shining Moments" is the theme of the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce events, and beginning 75 years ago, Rural Electric Administration provided the power to illuminate much of rural America...

Be a patriot
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/21/10)
Barack Obama and the leftists liberals are disfiguring and destroying our private sector. We need to stand up and say "This is the limit and I'm willing to make a difference." Many soldiers throughout American history have given the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our precious freedoms and opportunities. If they died for our country, why are we standing around thinking somebody else should do something? You need to act in order to save America...
