West Nile virus returns as summer concern
(Editorial ~ 06/22/07)

A legend is born
(Letter to the Editor ~ 06/22/07)
Ask why people climb mountains, they say things like "because it was there." Now over the last 24 years on the streets of McCook, I have seen some crazy stunts, including attempts to ride a skateboard off the roof of the shelter house next to the pool. Maybe a half-dozen have tried it, with everyone crashing and being lucky just to limp off with broken boards...

Pet rescues clarified
(Letter to the Editor ~ 06/22/07)
Due to the recent discussions and controversy on the description of rescuing dogs from unpleasant situations and placing them in better ones, I would like to clarify the rescue process. Each story gets worse and worse as if they were trying to outdo each other in their extremeness...

Growing again -- Hard work helping Nana's Garden recover from flood
(Features ~ 06/22/07)
CULBERTSON -- Flood waters and weeds are no match for Deb Lau -- for her energy or her optimism. On May 30, the lowlands west of Culbertson that cradle Deb's commercial garden, "Nana's Garden," were under water, flooded by torrential rainfall upstream on the Frenchman and Stinking Water creeks. She and her husband, Doug, evacuated their home, driving through deep water and wondering how much of the garden would be left when they returned...
