Planners advance dog kennel proposal

Despite objections from a nearby property owner, the McCook Planning Commission approved the request Monday night for a dog kennel to be placed about two miles outside of city limits. Daniel and Lizann Miller, 71363 Road 385, sought a special exception from the Commission to place a 10 by 20 foot dog kennel on their property, zoned Agricultural. The Miller's, who have 30 dogs, plan to use the kennel to breed and board small dogs, such as Pomeranians...

Most of us don't know how good we have it. We can walk to work, or get in our car and be there in a few minutes. Traffic jams? When school's out, there aren't any. Some of us do spend a lot of time commuting, but many workers in big cities, who spend a good chunk of their day traveling, would be envious of even an hours' drive to Benkelman...

It continues to amaze me. My mind keeps telling me I'm still a young kid, but my body lets me know in no uncertain terms that I am no longer 25 years old, but a 45-year-old mature (some may beg to differ) adult. I proved it to myself last weekend after spending an afternoon on the lake with my son one day and my husband the next...
