He was born in McCook, Oct. 25, 1926, to George Dustin and Beatrice Zyola (Snyder) Anderson. His sister, Margaret Irene (Olson) was born on Sept. 19, 1931. He attended school in McCook, and graduated high school in 1944. He then entered the U.S. Navy and served as a seabee for two years.
