Wolves start slow, but finish strong for 58-50 state win! (High School Sports ~ 03/06/24)
LINCOLN, Neb. — What a wild roller-coaster ride and the Maywood-Haywood Center boys were only starting their state basketball tournament experience Wednesday night! The Class D-2 No. 2 Wolves started down 6-0, got up for 19 of 20 points to lead 19-7, led by 16 then saw No. 7 Elm Creek slice 15 points off that margin at Lincoln's Bob Devaney Sports Center. Yet the Buffaloes never got closer than 45-44 largely because May-Hay senior Jeremiah Ingison scored those next six points capped with a high-rising second slam dunk of this contest. J.I. was simply not going to be denied as he eventually totaled an incredible 19 fourth-quarter points. -
