LINCOLN, Neb. — A public reprimand has been issued for a county judge after he self-reported his calls on behalf of his friend and parish priest charged with driving off without paying for gasoline. County Judge Michael P. Burns, who serves the 10th Judicial District, reported himself to the Nebraska Commission on Judicial Qualifications after asking a clerk magistrate to hold off processing the charge and calling the county attorney to say he believed it must be a mistake and passing along the defendant’s phone number to law enforcement.. ...
