Indians adjusting weekend volleyball schedule (College Sports ~ 02/17/21)
This weekend’s McCook Community College home volleyball schedule, which was to have included a pair of ranked Region IX South opponents and a Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference match, has changed according to MCC Volleyball Coach Hayley Kobza. The Lady Indians (7-3) were scheduled to play a home match Friday and two on Saturday but a scheduling conflict leaves MCC with single matches Friday afternoon and Saturday night. The Saturday night match with NCCAC opponent Central Community College (5-7) has been postponed because of a scheduling conflict so the Saturday afternoon match with No. 15 Northeastern Junior College (11-6) was pushed back to 6 p.m. The match with Central CC was reset for March 20 at 2 p.m. MCC will open the weekend Friday against No. 9 Western Nebraska (12-4) at 4 p.m. It will be the first time since Oct. 19, 2019 (487 days) that fans will allowed to watch the Lady Indians at home. The National Junior College Athletic Association pushed back fall sports in 2020 and while MCC hosted a two-day, 17-team tournament earlier this month, fans were not allowed to attend because of the large number athletes in attendance. Fans will be required to wear masks at this weekend’s matches. After the MCC/Western Nebraska match, the Cougars will play North Platte (5-8) at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center at 7 p.m. If you can’t attend Friday’s game, you can watch in live through Tribe Watch in the Fan Zone section of the official website of McCook Community College Indian Athletics at: https://boxcast.tv/view/mccook-volleyball-vs-western-nebraska-cc-408705 Saturday’s game is also on Tribe Watch as well as on 102.1 MZMC True Country. https://streamdb9web.securenetsystems.net/cirrusencore/KZMC Two of MCC’s three losses this season came to teams ranked in the top 25 nationally including No. 3 Utah State Eastern (14-2) and Barton County Community College (10-2) which was one of four teams receiving votes this week outside the top 20 rankings. The other loss came to Colby Community College (5-2). MCC’s wins include an early-season 3-2 win over No. 18 Eastern Wyoming (10-6). -
