Leadership unwilling to make spending cuts
(Editorial ~ 11/21/11)
"How much are we willing to sacrifice," we asked a year ago, Nov. 11, 2010. We now have the answer. Not much. The result is likely to be business as usual, except that the business is more likely to be further decline in the U.S. credit rating and, as a result, influence around the world...

What Thanksgiving
(Letter to the Editor ~ 11/21/11)
I am writing this in regard to my feeling of the American people toward Thanksgiving. I haven't seen anything or any ads about Thanksgiving. It seems that people don't have time to thank the good Lord for what he has given them and their country. This paragraph, penned by Grantland Rice, of the New York Herald-Tribune, on the occasion of the Notre Dame's victory over Army, 13-7, on Oct. ...

Social Security, Medicare no place for politics
(Column ~ 11/21/11)
Most Americans are very thankful that we live in a country that takes care of its senior citizens and doesn't break the promises that have been made to them about Social Security and Medicare. I intend to fight to make sure that these two wonderful programs are not dismantled by those who would do so for political reasons...
