MHS Bison take 65 players to UNK Football Team Camp

KEARNEY -- The McCook High School football team was represented by 65 players at the recent University of Nebraska-Kearney Team Camp. The Bison players competed on three teams. There were 17 teams and 625 players participating in the camp. Bison players receiving All Camp Team Recognition for outstanding play were Cody Goltl, wide receiver; Mark Nichols, wide receiver; Andy Smith, running back; Chad Stull, quarterback; Deon Allen, running back; Ben Vetrovsky, offensive lineman; Garrett Wagner, offensive lineman; Marcus Wilson, tight end; Ross Stewart, defensive lineman; Chance Evans, defensive lineman; Shane Wallen, defensive lineman; Greg Younger, linebacker; Austin Huffman, linebacker; Tye Smith, defensive back; and Chance Pearson, defensive back.. ...

When the children were young, if the sun was out, so were they, playing every moment of every day. I went through a lot of Band-Aids. They wore them like badges of honor, and it never bothered any of them to recount how they got their boo-boo when someone would ask, "Oh, what happened to your finger?" Or their knee, toes or anything else...

A new pickup for the McCook City Water Department will mean the current vehicle will go up for public auction or transferred to another city department. Councilman Aaron Kircher pulled from the consent agenda the bids and specs for a new, one half ton, four wheel drive pickup and asked what would happen to the current vehicle, a 1994 two wheel drive pickup with 118,781 miles on it and used by the meter repair person...

It took a little while -- about 64 years, to be exact -- but Robert "Lindy" Lenhart, 90, of McCook, has finally received a Bronze Star and other medals from his infantry service in World War II.
