KIMBALL -- The Kimball Kamakazee Klub is hosting a Remote Control Airplane Fun Fly, Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Kimball County Airport R/C field,-Kimball Nebraska. The field is 3 miles south and a one half mile west of Kimball's only stoplight! Rick Kirby, event coordinator, stated the event will feature planes & pilots from the tri-state area. Southern Valley also defeated Arapahoe. Jessica Murdoch put in 9 kills, 1 ace block, 1 ace and 7 digs for the Eagles win against the Warriors...

LINCOLN -- The Golden Anniversary McCook Red Willow football, basketball and track teams of 1958-59 will be honored at the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Sunday, Sept. 28 at Lied Center in Lincoln. The McCook High School football C team lost to Ogallala 33-14 Thursday night at Weiland Field. Ogallala put the game away with a 15-0 fourth quarter. The score was tied 6-6 after one quarter and Ogallala led 12-6 at halftime. McCook outscored the Indians 8-6 in the third quarter...

STAMFORD -- The Southern Valley High School softball team lost to Blue Hill 16-8 Thursday at Stamford. Blue Hill scored one run in the top of the second inning, nine in the third and six in the fourth on 17 hits and six Eagle errors. Southern Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and six in the fourth on six hits and three Blue Hill errors...

HOLDREGE -- Mitchell Redfield, 30, formerly of Palisade, now of Holdrege, died Wednesday (Sept. 17, 2008). Memorial services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holdrege.

She was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Craig, Neb., to Raymond and Margaret (Shutt) Stevens. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan and taught in the McCook Public Schools for 25 years...
