Right on target
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/08/05)
**Dear Editor, Steve Stramel is right on target ["Like it or move" (http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1116851.html)]. It is so easy to criticize the energy costs and some of the problems we are currently dealing with. Necessity is the mother of invention, and look at the inventions the U.S. has to its credit. I will expect that inventors will bring energy saving innovations to us when they will benefit not only the U.S., but the world...

Common sense
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/08/05)
**Dear Editor, I am glad at least one city council member still has common sense ["Council votes 3-2 for tennis courts" (http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/1117075.html)]. Mr. Phil Lyons voted to disapprove of the co-sponsoring of $75,000 for construction of 6 new tennis courts. I don't understand how the use of this money does anything but; benefit a small cross-section of the residents of McCook and the school system...

Child abuse?
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/08/05)
**Dear Editor, Thank you for publishing my letters. They may be the only opportunity for some people to learn the truth about the metaphysical research project of evolution. Especially the children. There have been some letters submitted to your column by writers (whose whereabouts are unknown) who suggest that I am a buffoon or ignorant because I tell the truth. If I am lying, simply prove it...

A woman's guide to home improvement
(Column ~ 09/08/05)
After nearly eight years of remodeling houses, I've come to consider myself quite the expert on how couples can survive a remodeling project. My trek into the whole marriage-remodeling journey started about the time Brad and I met. Instead of going on dates, we'd get together and help a friend with his remodeling projects. When we finally decided to cohabitate, times were tough and we knew a guy who knew a guy that would let us live in his house if we "fixed it up" for him...
