U.S. Army Cpl. Mitch Fahnholz of Fort Hood, Texas, told McCook Junior High students Tuesday his worst days in Iraq were the holidays back home. His funniest was watching a fellow soldier fly a kite built from two ponchos in 80-90 mile-an-hour desert winds. "Ross was 6-1, 6-2, 250 pounds ... he was huge," Fahnholz said. "He held on to his kite string, sat down and just skipped across the desert (on his backside)."... -

COLBY -- The 18-year-old prisoner who shimmied down a rope of sheets and ran from the Decatur County jail in Oberlin Tuesday morning faces more charges following his capture in Colby. The Red Willow County commissioners' jail task force will continue its fact-finding mission despite the McCook City Council's decision Monday not to include city law and emergency response in the study.
