She was born Aug, 12, 1925, at McCook, to Rue and Jenny (Loomis) Hauxwell.  She graduated from Red Willow High School in 1941.  She taught in rural schools for nine years.                                               ...

INDIANOLA -- A family heirloom went up in flames and smoke Monday morning when the 90-year-old barn on the Howard homeplace northwest of Indianola burned to the ground. Jim Howard, smudged and smokey, said his animals weren't hurt, but, "what's bad is, the barn's a family heirloom. My grandfather, James Howard, built it, and the house, in 1916."...
