Monica Mercer of Parks stands with her winning entry in the contest to create a postal cancellation commemorating McCook's 125th anniversary, 1882-2007. For many years McCook Junior College fielded football teams made up of young men from Southwest Nebraska, Northwest Kansas and an occasional player from Colorado. McCook Junior College was the perennial "Big Dog" of the Nebraska Junior College League when all the Junior Colleges were pretty much on the same footing...

It was another successful Heritage Days celebration, with plenty of socializing and getting reacquainted with old friends. Especially touching was the World War II music presented at the Fox Theater by local and Oberlin musicians, and we know we'll hear much more from these talented performers in the future...
