As is too often the case, Central and Western Nebraska may be short-changed in the casino proposals which are pending before the Nebraska Legislature. Hints of this were contained in a front page story in this morning's Omaha World-Herald. In discussing a constitutional amendment that would allow five casinos in a two-mile zone inside Nebraska's border, the World-Herald's Robynn Tysver wrote: "Conceivably, all five could be in or near Omaha."...

Dear Editor, Moving to McCook last September and purchasing a home, I did not realize nor was I informed of a serious problem with the drinking water in my home. It needs a sign on the edge of town stating that the drinking water may be hazardous to your health...

Deceive. Distract. Depress. Darken. Deaden. Damn. Defile. Does anyone see a pattern developing? What do all of these words have in common, aside from the obvious? These are most assuredly dark words. Even reading through them, understanding the definition for each one, is depressing... -
