KEARNEY, Neb. — McCook High’s boys made a truly respetable team showing against 19 other varsity golf lineups at Friday’s Kearney Invitational.

Coach Ben Vetrovsky provided these insights:

“McCook Bison Boys Golf traveled to Kearney to play in the Kearney High School Invite at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course.

Out of 20 teams in the field the Bison finished 6th place shooting a team score of 325.

Lincoln East came away with the victory shooting a team score of 292, Creighton Prep was runner up carding a 297.

Out of 100 players in the field the Bison brought home two individual medals.

Reid Loop was 13th shooting a 75 and Landon Kmoch was 17th finishing with a 76.

Other Bison scores included Trenton Raile 87, Keaton Loop 87, and Kolton Koetter 89.

“Kearney High School set the course up to be a challenge for the field,” Vetrovsky added. “The greens were fast and in great shape. Really proud of Reid and Landon taking home a couple medals in an extremely competitive tournament.

They showed a lot of grit throughout their rounds. Trenton, Keaton, and Kolton all showed some really good swing throughout the day.

We just need to continue working on short games to lower a couple of those scores. Very pleased to beat all of the Class B team in the event as well.

It is a quick turnaround with Lexington’s Invite next Tuesday.”
