Bison can move up Class B Top 10 at Bow today

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — Traveling north means McCook Bison can move up their Class B standings entering today’s Broken Bow Track-Field Invitational.
Events were set to begin at 11 a.m.
Pole vaulting often gets the meet moving and Bison senior Leni Henderson’s No. 8 in Class B following her 10’6” career best in Monday’s Hoehner Invitational.
She should get great challenges today becasue Scottsbluff’s Danielle Hunter has also hit 10’6” while Holdrege Duster Kambryn Vaughn holds No. 4 at 10’8”.
Everyone is looking up at Bison senior boy Josiah Wilkinson, since his 50.17 400-meter time currently leads all of Class B reported.
However, Gothenburg Swede Jonathan Davis currently holds No. 6 (51.68) and can take on Josiah this afternoon.
Other potential Top 10 early-season showdowns:
Class B No. 8 Jaylea Walgren, No. 6 Klarissa Dowdy of Bow and No. 10 Savanna James from Aurora in the 300-meter hurdles.
Walgren’s 48.25 time tops James at 49.03 but Dowdy has finished in 47.3 seconds.
Senior Osney Barber — McCook’s other eturning state-tested hurdler — is No. 8 among 110-highs with a time of 15.4.
He should be inspired to speed past No. 4 Pryor Matthews from O’Neiull (15.12) and No. 6 Minden Whippet Brett Eckhardt (15.36).
Barber’s No. 9 at 300-hurdles (41.73) and today’s field should feature No. 7 Tanner Gibb from Minden (41.35).
McCook senior Paige Bortner will get another race against No. 2-ranked Emily Stutzman of Holdrege in today’s 800 meters.
Stutmzan’s 2:22.97 won the Hoehner Invite on Monday while Bortner finished at 2:27.05.
Bortner also runs with McCook’s No. 6-ranked 1600-meter relay with Walgren, senior Lacyn Keller and junior Emma Cappel. Their time of 4:12.51 barely leads No. 7 Aurora at 4:13.01.
Other Bison earning Class B Top 10 spots:
The girls’ 3200-relay of Cappel, junior Brecken Gale, sophomores Halleigha Beavers and Cali Crawford ranks No. 9 at 10:20.18.
Bortner holds No. 7 among 400-meter runners as she ran a 59.83 at the Hoehner Invite.
