Bison boys make season debut with seven at UNK Indoor

Tuesday, March 25, 2025

KEARNEY, Neb. — McCook High’s boys still delivered four career bests with a limited group competing at the UNK Indoor Invitational on Friday.

The Bison only featured seven competitions among this Class A-B field.

However, senior returning state athletes Osney Barber and Josiah Wilkinson were clearly among those ready for spring sports.

Wilkinson ran a career-best 800 meters while Barber achieved this same feat in the 60-meter hurdles.

Of course, the 60-meter hurdles are not a regular event among most outdoor meets.

Osney will turn his attention to the 110 intermediates and 300-highs at this week’s Aurora outdoor Invitational.

Junior Blake Rodewald joined Wilkinson with his best 800 meters as both Bison placed among the A-B Top 10.

Rodewald’s fresh off a season of high places and great times during the recent Bison swimming season.

Junior jumpers Miles Pollmann and Oliver Corbett were the other Bison who reached personal bests during that long-jump showdown.

High jumper Gunner Kaps also reached one of McCook’s high places on Friday, clearing his way to fourth place.

Editor’s Note: Watch for area results from the Class C-D UNK Indoor competition in Thursday’s McCook Gazette as the spring season heats up.

Also, Cambridge Invite results will appear.
