McCook boys start playoff title chase Wednesday vs. Bulldogs
COTTSBLUFF, Neb. — As expected, the McCook High boys have earned a No. 2 seed for this week’s B-8 subdistrict basketball tournament.
The Bison (15-8 record) will play Wednesday’s second semiifnal against No. 3 Alliance (13-10) with an expected start time of 7:30 p.m. — or 6:30 p.m. MST if traveling to Scottsbluff for this contest.
Mighty No. 1 Scottsbluff (20-3) meets neighbor-rival Gering (9-12) at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. MST).
The Bearcats destroyed those Bulldogs, 84-44, during a regular-season meeting last week.
Winners then meet Thursday for the B-8 title at Scottsbluff High.
Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. CST.
McCook beat the Alliance Bulldogs during their meeting at McCook just more than two weeks ago on Feb. 9.
However, the Bulldogs boast several solid wins including one over a strong C-1 Sidney Red Raiders team.
A win would mean McCook could get another shot at Scottsbluff. The Bearcats scored an 87-64 victory over Mccook on that same floor earlier this month.
They also knocked off the Bison in last year’s 8-1 final en route to the Class B state tournament.
Watch for a recap of McCook-Alliance and details in the Gazette on Thursday.
