Jay Russell Markwith, Jr.

McCOOK, Neb. - Jay Russell Markwith, Jr. was born on Jan. 21, 1960 in Lawrence, Kan. to Jay Russell and Darlene G. (Carr) Markwith. He attended school in McCook, Neb.

Russ worked in the oil fields and was also a talented tattoo artist. He had many passions in his life, one of them being listening to music. Russ enjoyed drawing, a hobby that led to and supported his tattooing. He also enjoyed attending his church group, he was a member of McCook Christian Church. Russ was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends, especially his son and grandchildren.

Russ passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 15, 2025 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was 65 years of age.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Darlene, grandparents, Robert and Lora Carr and Grace Markwith; niece, Amber Scott; nephew, Daniel Scott; and his partner, Susan “Sue” Michele Lampman Dack.

He is survived by son, Joshua Hoyt-Markwith of Wichita, Kan.; grandson, Phoenix and granddaughter, Willow both of Wichita; and sister, Vicki (Darwin) Scott of McCook.

Cremation was chosen and services are pending at this time.
