Nebraska Public Media expands local FM coverage

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Public Media is expanding its FM radio coverage near McCook with the addition of a new transmitter, KNNE at 90.7 FM.

Those who listen in the communities of Bartley, Culbertson, Danbury, Hamlet, Hayes Center, Indianola, Lebanon, Maywood, McCook, Palisade, Perry, Red Willow, Stratton, Trenton and Wauneta will now find a stronger signal, making it much easier to tune in to Nebraska Public Media.

“We are excited to bring an even stronger and more reliable signal to the McCook area with the addition of KNNE,” said Stacey Decker, Nebraska Public Media general manager/CEO. “This full-power transmitter ensures expanded access to the trusted NPR and local programming our listeners value, furthering our mission to connect and serve communities across Nebraska.”

The new station will broadcast under the new frequency 90.7, replacing 92.7 FM, but the news and music listeners tune into remain the same. Expanded service also provides more access to public safety information, including alerts from the Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service during times of severe weather.

Nebraska Public Media continues to make upgrades in Columbus with KUNE 88.7 FM anticipated to be completed in March. A new station near Falls City, KQNE 89.9 FM, was added in May 2024 and Broken Bow, KGNE 89.3 FM, in January 2025.
