Bison boys blast Valentine to finish SWC tourney run

GOTHENBURG, Neb. — Senior Jonathan Patel’s 20 points led a McCook boys 71-25 Southwest Conference tourney victory over Valentine Thurdsay night.

The Bison (13-5 record overall) finish fifth among eight SWC teams.

Patel hit eight of his nine shot attempts and finished four-for-four with free throws.

Sophomores Kooper Rakes and Tripp Raile followed with 10 points apiece.

Junior Bryson Gullion drilled two three-points among his eight points total and senior Miles Pollmann swished another from long distance.

Pollmann tallied seven points to go with five offensive rebounds.

Junior Trey Tiller’s two threes in four attempts led to six more Bison points.

Senior Andrew Pochop added four points while Brody Grahjam, Lee Davison and Mason West each tossed in two.

Raile delivered a team-high five assists and Rakes swiped three steals.

The Badgers slipped to 8-10 overall.

McCook plays next at Ogallala one week from tonight.
