Bison block Indians path to title on Bow's home court

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — The No. 6-seed McCook girls were more than ready for a Tuesday road trip and 44-36 Southwest Conference tournament win over No. 3 Broken Bow.

Junior Jaylea Walgren hit a trio of three-pointers en route to 13 points while senior Malia HIlker delivered seven points in the third quarter alone.

Senior Paige Bortner added four of her eight points during that fourth period with a free throw from senior Brooklynn Gillen helping seal this huge victory.

McCook's now 12-5 overall and advances into Friday's SWC semifinals at Kearney High School.

The Bison will face No. 2-seed Gothenburg, who stomped out Valentine's heartbreak with a 72-156 trouncing.

Opening tip time is set for 8 p.m.
