McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook High girls kept pace with unbeaten Gothenburg through almost an entire half Friday night just like how they took down tough Broken Bow on Tuesday.

Yet the Swedes showed why they are 9-0 after top scorer Zoe Beveridge scored five quick points not long before that midway break.

Gothenburg suddenly amped up intensity while holding the red-hot Bison to single digits after halftime.

McCook still owns an excellent 9-3 record overall despite this 62-31 setback.

Sophomore Cali Crawford connected on 75 percent of her three-point attempts for a tsuper Bison highlight. She totaled 12 points and eight rebounds.

Senior Lacyn Keller delivered a quick five-point flurry during the opening half.

Keller and Crawford both showed smooth ability to bank in three-pointers though neither was heard calling “glass!” while releasing their shots.

Other Bison mixed in some big shots through that highly competitive first half half.

However, Beveridge and those other Swedes somewhat smothered McCook’s attack in those final 16 minutes.

The Bison can recover when they visit Hastings Friday evening before hosting a strong Minden team on Saturday.
