BLAIR, Neb. - Delores Irene McGee, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, after a short stay at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Community in Blair, Neb. She was surrounded by her loved ones and the wonderful staff at the nursing home. Delores was born on a farm five miles south of Stamford, Neb., on July 31, 1935, to Harry and Velma (Sims) Vahle.

On Feb. 2, 1963, Delores married James McGee, moving from Alma to Orleans. Then in 1965, they moved to Oxford, where the family owned McGee’s Food Market for many years. Showing her kind heart, she generously volunteered at the Harlan County Caring Cupboard for the last handful of years. This gave her the opportunity to be involved in the community she loved so dearly.

Delores didn’t know a stranger as she loved to chat with everyone. She knew everybody on main-street in Alma as she frequently visited the businesses to shop. Even in her younger days, she would spend all day shopping in Kearney, Hastings, or Lincoln. She never missed an activity that her children participated in, whether music, sports, or 4-H. Delores loved to attend her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games and activities as often as possible. One of her great joys was dining out with her family and friends.
