Southwest girls, Hitchcock boys top wrestlers at tourneys

Other top Gazette-area wrestling performers during tournaments last weekend:

SW girls at Sidney

SIDNEY, Neb. — The Southwest girls took third among 19 teams with 115 points onFriday behind only Gering and Bridgeport.

Southwest’s sisters are now 43-0 for the season with Rylan Custard owning 22 wins and Ambie Custard 21.

Senior Ambie pinned two foes on Friday including a 1:20 title match at 135 pounds over Mitchell’s Macie Vallejo (15-6 record).

Rylan (22-0) also took two wins with her 115-pound final being a 19-2 tech fall over Bridgeport’s Kyra Robbins, who owns her own impressive 21-4 season record.

Capri Sayer (17-3) delivered second place at 100, Aubrie Seybold (15-6) earned third at 140, Clara Hurst finished fourth among heavyweights while Alyssa Koch (13-12 at 120) and Ariel Gallegos (10-9 at 140) both placed fifth.

MALCOLM, Neb. — Southern Valley-Arapahoe totaled 61 points for 14th place with Laney Becker earning runner-up at 105 and Hayley Serfontein claiming third among 115-pounders on Friday.

Serfontein’s now 16-4 as she won her finale in 2:23 over Wood River’s Elizabeth Gottlob (19-16).

Becker (-3) stuck 21-10 Anna Leigh McLaughlin of Fort Calhoun in a 2:17 semifinal. Only 22-3 Keira Crane from Minden stopped Becker’s title pursuit.

FRANKLIN, Neb. — The Hitchcock County Falcons tallied 108.5 points for seventh among 17 Franklin Invite teams on Saturday.

Jaret Neben (15-12) led the Falcons in seond place at 157, Dylan Kollmorgen (17-14) was third at 150, Karson Shuler (11-2) third at 215, Dalten Hagan (15-7) fourth at 175 and three other Falcons finished sixth: Jayden Loghry (19-13) at heavyweight, Samuel Hare (18-8) at 165 and Solomon Hare (7-8) at 132.
