WATKINS Colo. - Lester Martin Bieker, age 55, of Watkins, Colo., formerly of McCook, passed away on Dec. 24, 2024.
Lester was born on Oct. 27, 1969 to Kathleen and the late Lavern Bieker, in Colby, Kan. The family resided in Hoxie, Kan. before making the move to Hayes Center, Neb. in 1982 where Lester graduated from high school in 1988. He then pursued his interest in cars at Northwest Technical College, earning a degree in auto body repair. On June 9, 1990, Lester married Traci Artley in Goodland, Kan. They settled in Grinnell, Kan where they started their family and Lester owned and operated New Image Body Shop. They relocated to McCook in 2000 where they opened Bieker’s Quality Collision Repair & Service for 23 years.
Lester was a man of many interests. His passion was hunting with his beloved German Shorthair, Jed. He was an avid Husker fan, enjoyed fishing, trying new foods, and recently developed a hobby crafting model rockets. Most of all, Lester enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he cherished deeply.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife of 34 years, Traci Bieker of Watkins, Colo; children, Heather (Adam) Lambing of Olathe, Kan., Brittini (Andrew) Hanson of Quincy, Mass., Morgan (Lorenzo) Cavanaugh of North Platte, and Sheldon Bieker of Watkins, Colo. He also leaves behind his mother, Kathleen Bieker of McCook; siblings Leelan (Maria) Bieker of McCook, Collete (Kirk) Guynan of North Platte, and Jason Bieker (friend Emily Perry) of McCook; nephew, Beau Bieker; and niece, Olivia Guynan. He will be greatly missed by his seven adored grandchildren: Carter, Brayton, Rowan, Ariayah, Kinley, Treycen, and Ameirah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lavern Bieker; grandparents, Lawrence and Francis Holzmeister and Martin and Josephine Bieker; and many other loved ones who now welcome him with open arms.
Lester will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his heart of gold, contagious laughter, and big smile. His legacy of love and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Jan. 1, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. at Hermann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. A Rosary will be recited at 7PM.
Funeral services at the McCook Evangelical Free Church are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in McCook.
