Bill grew up north of Indianola, graduated high school from Curtis and married Norma Cole. They farmed, ranched, and raised their family south of town for 65 plus years before retiring and moving to Curtis.

His family includes Jody (Robert) Rupp, the late Billy (Kris) Bryant, grandchildren Chris (Michelle) Rupp, Kyle (Mallory) Rupp, Kaycie (Travis) Benesch-Rupp, Clint (Danea) Bryant, and Lacy (Cody) Most, and 16 great-grandchildren.
