Roland LeRoy Carlson

McCOOK, Neb. - Roland LeRoy Carlson was born to W. LeRoy and M. Mae (Schlecht) Carlson on Jan. 18, 1937 on the family farm northwest of McCook. He left this earth to meet his Heavenly Father on Dec. 22, 2024. Hillcrest Nursing Home had been his residence for the last 16 months.
Roland was baptized into the Christian faith in 1937 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1951. He had been a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities. He graduated from McCook High School in 1954 and McCook Junior College in 1956. Roland entered the United States Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class in 1960; he served one year in Korea.
Roland spent his adult years farming with family and neighbors; he worked for Don Klein and Kleins Motor Electric for nearly 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Mae Calvin; and brother, Robert G. Carlson.
Roland is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Sue Carlson of McCook; nephews, David (Sandra) Calvin of Holdrege, Neb. and Jerry (Robin) Calvin of McCook, Neb., nieces, Diane Calvin and Elaine Callister, both of Muncie, Ind. and also six great nieces and nephews and eight great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Roland’s family will be present to greet friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Lonnie Felcher officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery of McCook.
