Undefeated sister duo lifts 'Riders into Cambridge top three
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Fresh off their McCook Invite championship, the Southwest wrestling girls took third among 21 Cambridge Girls Tournament teams on Saturday.
Southwest scored 138.5 points to place only below champion Adams Central’s 226.5 and powerhouse Norton/Northern Valley, Kan., with 183.5.
Sisters Ambie Custard, a senior, and sophomore Rylan Custard both raised their marks to 16-0 with titles.
Southern Valley/Arapahoe finished fourth, totaling 69.5 points which topped fifth-place Shelton’s 67.
Decatur Community-Oberlin, Kan., earned 13th (26 points) and Wauneta-Palisade was 19th (6 points).
A rundown of all top three Gazette-area placers:
100 pounds: Capri Sayer, SW (14-1 record), won the championship. She pinned runner-up Allison Quintana, NORT-NV, in :49.
105: Laney Becker (7-2), SV/ARAP, won the championship. She clinched with a 2:57 pin of Alexa Rogers, AC.
110: Kyra Sowers (13-2), DEC, won the championship. She pinned runner-up Kamden Sack, St Paul, in 1:52.
115: Rylan Custard (16-0), SW, won the championship. She won a 17-2 tech fall over runner-up Kaison Miller, NORT-NV. Hayley Serfontein (13-3), SV-ARAP, placed third. She won a 10-1 finale over Khloe Wiseman, AC.
130: Ambie Custard (16-0), SW, won the championship. She pinned runner-up Isabella Garrity, NORT-NV, in :43.
135: Aubrie Seybold (10-4), SW, placed second. She reached the finals where Kieryn Aitken scored a 1:52 pin.
235: Madelyn Tryon (14-2), SW, won the championship. She pinned Brooke Lentz (10-7), SV-ARAP, in 1:34. Lentz placed second.

155: Cydney Carlson (4-7), SV-ARAP, placed fourth.
140: Ariel Gallegos (8-7), SW placed fifth.
