NORTON, Kan. — Southern Valley held the Norton Bluejays to 13 points through three quarters and went on to a 52-26 girls basketball win Tuesday evening.

The Eagles (4-2 record) shot 50 percent from two-point range while earning their fourth consecutive win after opening losses to Minden and Elm Creek.

Junior Tori Bose scored 12 points with seniors Brynn Baily and Vanesa Aguayo each adding 11.

Defense really fueled the Eagles as senior Brecklyn Hammond deflected 10 passes while backcourt mate Adi Hunt swiped a school-record 12 steals during this single contest.

Hunt netted nine more points, Hammond five and Natalee Holste four. They built a 42-13 lead through three over Norton, who gave McCook’s girls their lone defeat last week.
