R.B. Headley/McCook Gazette

Hometown fans cheered a third big McCook Community College hit when McCook High senior Lacyn Keller signed to play softball for those Indians Wednesday morning. She joins classmates Malia Hilker and Brooklynn Gillen from this fall’s 26-8 Class B district finalist team. The four-sport Bison is also a Class B state track qualifier, varsity basketball guard and on McCook High’s Unified bowling squad. Family joined Lacyn for the big event. Seated are Bison coach Kelsey Gillen, mom Amy Virgil and Myles Virgil. Standing behind Lacyn as always are grandparents Jay and Susan Hancock. Lacyn’s a starting second baseman with outfield experience and some suprising “power pop” from that right-handed bat. More about Lacyn with some comments and insights will appear in an upcoming McCook Gazette.
