Southern Valley girls start fast, soar past rival Trojans
OXFORD, Neb. — A 25-0 first quarter propelled the Southern Valley girls to their 55-16 win over Cambridge Thursday evening.
The Eagles only allowed three Trojan two-point baskets all game.
They took a 41-6 halftme lead which reached 53-9 through three periods.
Junior Tori Bose’s 19 points featured five three-point baskets while guard Adi Hunt added 12 points with a triple.
Senior Brecklyn Hammond scored seven, Vanesa Aguayo five.
Payton Adams and Tayley Becker each added three points.
Hunt swiped five steals and senior Brynn Baily swiped four along with two more points for the returning Class D-1 state finalists.
Aspen Webb’s 11 points were most of the 0-3 Cambridg attack.
Joslyn Holtze and Elisabeth Kubik each hit one two-point basket.
Cambridge won the boys varsity contest and that will appear in Friday’s Gazette.
