Tigers tune up for Cattle Trail with two wins; Wolves also romp

LODGEPOLE, Neb. — Dundy County-Stratton tuned up for this week’s Cattle Trail tourney with a 50-point first half on Saturday.
Lane Bybee’s 14 points led 10 Tigers who hit shots. Breck Horner netted 13, August Shaw 10, Dante Horner eight, Judd Johnson eight, Ethan Latta seven and Cooper Shaw six points.
Bybee and Latta also corraled a team-best eight rebounds each.
The Tigers were fresh off a 65-30 opening conquest of Cambridge Friday evening.
A 25-4 third quarter sealed this victory after the Tigers’ 33-19 first half.
Krayton Ruggles did score 13 points for Cambridge and Hodge Raburn tallied 10.

MAYWOOD, Neb. — Jaxson Anders’ 25 points powered the Maywood-Hayes Center boys’ game since reaching a historic first Class D-1 state championship game in March.
New force Keenan Richards, a 6’4” sophomore, added 16 points Friday as he five of his seven field goals.
Grady Erickson and Sawyer Dibbern dropped in eight points apiece.
On Saturday in Bartley, the May-Hay boys unleashed a 62-29 win over the Southwest Roughriders.
May-Hay (2-0) led 23-7 through one quarter and closed on a 22-8 surge.
Sophomore Kade Broz netted 18 points with 12 each from Charlie Callis and Richards.
Anders added another 11 points.
Richards cleaned the boards for 10 rebounds and Broz eight.
No Southwest individual stat leaders were obtained.

ARAPAHOE, Neb. — Senior William Cacy’s 12 points topped the 0-2 Warriors who couldn’t quite find the shooting touch on Saturday.
Cacy did hustle to 10 rebounds and senior Grayson Koller collected nine.
Kade Fisher added six points, Eli Shafer five and Gage Gooden two.

IMPERIAL, Neb. — Noah Shoemaker’s 22 points for the Cozad Haymakers capped a tough 0-2 Chase County opening weekend.
However, the Longhorns overcame a slow start to achieve success last season.

OBERLIN, Kan. — Gage Williby’s 25 points and 23 from Tyler Ostmyer sends the Decatur Community Red Devils blazing into Cattle Trail tourney play this week.
Shaun Lare led Rawlins County through this season opener Saturday.
