School Board to discuss assessments, resignations
McCOOK, Neb.- The Dec. 9 McCook Public School’s board meeting will focus on the recently released AQuESTT classifications from the Nebraska Department of Education. These classifications assess school performance based on various factors, most notably the NSCAS and ACT scores from last spring.
Other items on the agenda include accepting Abbey McNutt’s resignation as the 6-12 choir director and approving contracts for several new faculty members, including Jacob Obrecht as band teacher and Zach Wieser as senior high math teacher for the 2025/2026 school year, along with Sara Frank as 6th grade English language arts teacher. The board will also consider approval for a NORE trip to La Paz, Baja Sur, Mexico, scheduled for June 26 to July 3, 2025.
Plans for an active shooter drill involving local and regional agencies are also on the agenda.
The board will hold an executive session to discuss negotiations with the McCook Education Association. Another executive session will be held to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation.
Community members are encouraged to attend the meeting held at the McCook Junior High conference room on the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m.
