Carolyn Sue Hardy
May 31, 1941 - Nov. 27, 2024
STRATTON, Neb. - Carolyn Sue Hardy was born in Anthony, Kan. to Beatrice (Alder) and JW Cooper on May 31, 1941. In May of 1946, Marvin Odell, Sr. came into her life to be her Dad.
Carolyn grew up in the Ulysses, Kan. area, graduating from Satana High School in 1959. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
On Jan. 3, 1960, she married George G. Hardy, whom she had met at church camp in Hayes Center, Neb. about five years earlier. They were married 25 days short of 50 years when George passed away from cancer.
To this union six children were born, which made her a busy stay at home mom. Later in life, Carolyn worked in long-term care and bookkeeping. She was never too busy for family and the Great, Great-Great and Great-Great-Great-Grandkids were the light of her life. Her doors were always open.
Carolyn was surrounded by family when she passed away at her home in Stratton on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024. She was 83 years of age.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Bea and Marvin Odell, Sr.; parents-in-law, Frank and Lola Hardy; sister, Diana; brother, Melvin; sisters-in-law, Vonna and Natalie; and brothers-in-law, Delbert, Neil and Robert.
Survivors include her kids, Tami Jo (Brad) Jesch, James (Christina) Hardy, Myra (Kelly) Fanning, Bryon (Trudy) Hardy, Alan (Tiffany) Hardy and John (Flor) Hardy; 22 grandkids, 33 great-grandkids and three great-great-grandkids; with spouses, the grandkids and greats totaled 84 and Carolyn hung a stocking for each and every one at Christmas. She is also survived by her brothers, Marv, Jr. (Mary), Lloyd, and Loren; sisters-in-law, Lucille and Mary Lou; and too many extended family members and friends to count.
Cremation was chosen and in keeping with Carolyn’s wishes there will be no public services.
