In a case filed in Red Willow County Court by County Attorney Paul Wood on Oct. 24, 2024, former McCook Schools teacher Ronald P. Wolf was charged with negligently committing child abuse without injury, a class one misdemeanor. Wolf has entered a plea of not guilty.

The charges arise from an incident allegedly occurring on Sept. 21. The language of the actual complaint was unavailable due to the minor's age.

The case has seen multiple filings, including the defendant’s appearance of counsel and a motion for continuance on Oct. 25, followed by the court granting a continuance on Oct. 29. On Nov. 20, the defendant waived arraignment, and the court officially entered a plea of not guilty on Nov. 21, setting the matter for pretrial proceedings.

The arraignment has been scheduled for Dec. 17, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the Red Willow County courtroom. Wolf is represented by attorney Chawnta M. Durham from North Platte, Nebraska; the Honorable Anne Paine will preside.

Wolf submitted his resignation to the McCook Public Schools on Nov. 7, effective November 7.
