Bison roll to 1-2 at Kearney; bowl on at G.I. tourney

McCOOK, Neb. — McCook High coach Lynne Kinne provided these details about her Unified bowling team’s two most recent meets:

“On Monday, the team traveled to Kearney for a triangular against Kearney High and Broken Bow and had a great showing.

Teams bowled sixgames of Baker Format bowling. In total, 20 teams were participating.

The team Of Riley O’Brien, Kolton Koetter, Landon Kmoch, and Layton Winters won the event with a total pinfall of 770.

The team of Blaze Powers, Lacey Rouse, and Sutton LaBrie placed 2nd with a 686. The team of Cody Stevens, Reid Loop, Max Proehl, and Isaiah Powers had a total pinfall of 608 to take seventh place and the team of Blake Myers, Lacyn Keller, Jalen Collicott, and Zach Hinz bowled a 571 good enough for 10th place.

On Saturday,the team traveled to Grand Island to participate in the GI Northwest bowling tournament. Teams bowled 6 games of baker’s format bowling to be placed in 1 of 3 divisions for single-elimination tournament play.

Riley O’Brien, Kolton Koetter, and Layton Winters bowled a 771 good enough to put them in the Gold Division.

They beat York 2 games to 1 and lost to runner-up Lexington in the semifinal match 1 game to 2. The team of Blake Myers, Jalen Collicott, Zach Hinze and Reid Loop bowled a 674 placing them in the silver division.

They beat Grand Island High 2 - 0 in the opening round before losing to Norfolk1 -2 in the semifinals.

The final team of Blaze Powers, Lacyn Keller, Mark Wolfe, and Max Proehl bowled a 566 in their six Baker’s games good enough for top seed in the Bronze Division. They beat Cambridge’s 3rd team 2 - 0 in the opening round.

Won against Grabd Island 4 2- 1 and beat Cambridge 2 2-0 to win Division 3.

I am so proud of how well everyone bowled and supported each other.”
