McCook, Neb. – A fresh green oasis has arrived in downtown McCook with the opening of Plants by Ashley. Owned and operated by Ashley and Chad Wiley, the new shop is located at 307 Norris Ave.  It offers a diverse selection of plants, antiques, homemade crafts, and more from local vendors.

After relocating from Calhoun, Ga., Ashley and Chad brought their passion for plants and small businesses to Trenton, Nebraska, and McCook. The couple recently celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the McCook Chamber of Commerce, marking a new chapter for them and the community.

The front of the store showcases Ashley’s extensive variety of plants, each carefully chosen to ensure customer success. From popular houseplants to unique specimens, Ashley prides herself on setting her customers up for success as they embark on their plant parenthood journey. “I want people to leave here confident in their choices,” Ashley shared. “We also offer local delivery.

As visitors move toward the back of the store, they’ll discover an eclectic mix of vendor booths featuring everything from antiques and crocheted items to homemade soaps, crystals, candles, and other creative crafts.

“My love for plants started as a form of therapy about two years ago.” Ashley shared, “Taking care of something living helps ground me,” she reflected. She hopes to share this connection with her customers.

Chad, Ashley’s husband, complements Ashley’s vision with his expertise in selecting rare plants. “We handpick all our plants from Denver to get the healthiest,” he stated.  This commitment to quality and personal touch sets Plants by Ashley apart from traditional retail experiences.

The Wileys have already begun cultivating a community connection in McCook. “People have been very welcoming, and I feel like I’m becoming part of this community,” Ashley noted. Drawing from her experience in retail management with brands like Ralph Lauren, she aims to create a welcoming environment that reflects her personality and values.

They want their store to be where people feel comfortable and excited to learn about plants. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a complete novice, they are here to help. She hopes to offer workshops and plant care sessions, fostering a community of plant lovers.

With the holiday season approaching, Ashley also highlighted the role of plants as meaningful gifts. “Plants are a great option for giving, whether for funerals or as thoughtful presents for loved ones,” she said.

As the store grows, the Wileys are optimistic about expanding their reach within the community.

Plants by Ashley represents more than just a new business; it symbolizes growth, community, and the healing power of nature. With their doors now open, the Wileys invite everyone to explore their vibrant selection and celebrate the joy of plants.
