Senior Buffaloes' back averaged better than 210 per game
ATWOOD, Kan. — The Rawlins County, Kan., Buffaloes finished their 7-3 football season which featured a 70-point playoff explosion against Ellis, Kan., on Halloween evening.
Senior Ryan Sramek rushed for 240 yards with six touchdowns, while classmate Dorian Culwell gained another 143 during the 70-38 victory.
Culwell added two TDs to go with Eli Holle’s five-yard score on the lone Rawlins pass completion from Sramek.
Freshman Dominique Paz delivered 13 tackles during his first playoff game where six were solo stops.
Cullwell and junior Israel Aguilar added 11 total tackles each.
Junior Tucker Prideaux’s seven solo tackles led all Buffaloes through they also teamed for seven quarterback sacks.
Junior Austin Chumley broke through to match Culwell’s team-high two drops of the Ellis quarterback.
Sramaek also intercepted two passes on defense while adding 75 return yards.
The Buffaloes advanced into Eight-Man state quarterfinals where they fell 24-6 to unbeaten South Central (11-0) one week later.
Sramek completed both his passes for 34 yards, one being a 13-yard scoring strike to Culwell.
Chumley gained 21 yards on that other completed throw.
However, South Central held Rawlins’ rushing attack to 87 yards. Sramek needed 25 carries for his 57.
Yet Sramek totaled 1,894 rush yards in nine games, scoring 29 TDs.
