The day kicked off with an insightful session on community leadership led by Troy Bruntz, CEO of Community Hospital. Participants then embarked on a series of tours and presentations showcasing key educational and professional development programs in the region.

Participants also had the chance to explore the McCook Beauty Academy, where owner and instructor Jane Carlisle gave a tour and discussed career prospects in the beauty industry.

A working lunch at Community Hospital, sponsored by the hospital, featured speakers Lori Beeby, VP of Support Services; Todd Hovey, Nurse Educator; and Abbott, Population Health and Community Outreach.

The afternoon session included a visit to McCook Community College East Campus, where Joy Molcyk, EMS/Paramedic Program Director, Sharon Kircher, Business and Community Education Coordinator, and Brett Niemeth, Nursing Support Coordinator, presented on the college’s hands-on training programs that will be housed at the newly established East Campus. Lastly, a leadership learning session with Lorrie Mowry at MCC McMillen Hall rounded out the day, followed by time for participants to connect with their mentors.

“We’re excited to present a diverse lineup of speakers and site visits,” said Shannon Magnuson, SWNLI Education Day team member. “Our focus was on providing participants with the insights needed to thrive in their leadership journeys while showcasing the valuable educational and career opportunities available here in Southwest Nebraska.”
