Girls Empowerment Project Rotary topic Dec. 10
McCOOK, Neb. — A not-often-talked-about topic will be the subject of an evening McCook Rotary presentation on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in McCook.
Former District 5630 Governor Deb McCaslin will be speaking on the “Girls Empowerment Project in Zimbabwe,” which is transforming lives for thousands of girls in the African country. Many face barriers to education due to inadequate menstrual hygiene, missing an average of five days a month.
The presentation will take place at the McCook Community College Student Union with a free dinner provided by Rotary club members at 5:30 p.m. McCaslin will be begin her talk at 6 p.m.
McCaslin is a dedicated community activist who sees the world as her community through her Rotary work. She has traveled extensively, immersing her family in diverse cultures and served as a writer and publisher for the Custer County Chief newspaper. She focuses on girls’ empowerment and food sustainability through her partnership with the Broken Bow Rotary Club and the Victoria Falls Rotary Club in Zimbabwe.
