McCOOK, Neb. — McCook High’s new varsity bowling teams will feature 15 seniors among 34 athletes total competing in 10 meets before districts this winter.

Coach Jana Sides is thrilled about 21 boys and 13 girls who are signed up for the opening team practice on Monday.

The Bison will bowl a pre-season scrimmage on Dec. 7 at TJ’s Family Fun Center.

Sides said the Bison will be sporting “SOOO cool-looking” jersey for their season opener at a Kearney Triangular on Dec. 10.

There are home duals against Ogallala on Dec. 17, Arapahoe on Jan. 9 and Southern Valley on Jan. 30.

All three duals are set to begin at 2 p.m. on the TJ’s Fun Center lanes.

The senior lineups include senior girls like softball second baseman/track dynamo Lacyn Keller and Class B state medal-winning No.1 singles player Izzy Clause.

The 11 Bison senior boys feature starting football lineman Beckett Heskett, three varsity tennis players in Reid Loop, Landon Kmoch and 2024 Homecoming King Carter Hartwell.

Jana Sides, Terry Sides and Lynne Kinne will be coaching the McCook High varsity bowlers.

Of course, Kinne also directs the McCook Unified bowling team which recently delivered some top-placing performances in one of their first tournaments this season.

Watch for more details about both teams as winter sports practices officially start Monday.
