FBI seeks public help to ID possible witness in child exploitation case
OMAHA, Neb. — The FBI is requesting public assistance to identify an unknown male, referred to as "John Doe 49," who may have crucial information about a child victim in an ongoing sexual exploitation case. Images and a detailed informational poster of the individual are available on the FBI's website, and the bureau is encouraging anyone who may recognize him to come forward.
John Doe 49 was first identified in a video recorded by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, believed to have been produced before July 2024. The video contains no embedded metadata, making other identifying details all the more critical. The man is described as a White male between the ages of 45 and 65, bald, with a dark goatee. He has several visible tattoos, including the name "Dabby" on the right side of his chest, “197” and additional text on his left bicep, and other tattoos on both forearms and his right bicep.
The FBI has provided multiple ways for the public to submit information: tips can be submitted online at https://tips.fbi.gov/, or by calling the FBI's tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). The public is reminded that John Doe 49 is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court, and he has not been charged with any crime.
This case is part of the FBI’s Operation Rescue Me and the Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP). These initiatives employ advanced image analysis to find child victims and use national media exposure to identify adults associated with exploitation materials.
By enlisting the public's assistance, the FBI hopes to secure information that could lead to the protection and well-being of the child involved in this case.
