Driver arrested in fatal crash
MORRILL COUNTY, Neb. — Nebraska State Patrol troopers have arrested Daniel Flores, 21, of Mitchell, following a fatal crash on Highway 385 near mile marker 93 on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 2:26 p.m. MT on November 12, when a 2020 Chevrolet Express delivery van, driven by Flores, was traveling southbound and failed to slow down for a stopped Ford F-150, which was waiting for cattle to cross the road. Flores reportedly attempted to change lanes to avoid the vehicle but collided with the stopped truck.
The Ford F-150, driven by Kim Wills, 65, of Alliance, was severely impacted. Troopers and emergency personnel administered CPR, and Wills was transported to Morrill County Community Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, Flores was arrested and charged with motor vehicle homicide and careless driving. He is currently lodged in the Morrill County Jail.
The Nebraska State Patrol was supported by the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office and the Morrill County Attorney’s Office in responding to the scene.
