BARTLEY, Neb. — Senior Trenton Williams set a Nebraska Six-Man football record with his 16 receptions for 243 yards on Sept. 27 against Wallace.

Williams delivered four of his 15 receiving touchdowns during a remarkable 2024 campaign. He caught 69 throws overall for 981 yards in nine games as Southwest (5-4 record) again reached the Six-Man state playoffs.

Many of those herocis were facing top six-man foes like No. 1 Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, Arthur County, unbeaten Garden County and state qualifier Wauneta-Palisade.

Williams was part of a Roughrider passing attack where junior quarterback Houston Billeter threw 32 TDs overall and just nine interceptions.

While Williams averaged 109 receiving yards per game, sophomore Deric Kelley averaged better than 20 per catch with 43 for 867 and 12 more scores.

Billeter completed 61 percent at 140 for 228, totaling 2,224 yards or 247.1 per contest.

Williams added 193 rushing yards and two more TDs.

Other recent reports said Williams broke Nebraska’s Six-Man career pass receptions record. The Gazette is working to obtain official numbers which confirm that fact.
